What is Set?
Set is a time-based task manager designed for neurodivergent thinkers. Unlike traditional to-do apps, Set answers the question "When will I be done?" by automatically calculating when you'll finish all your tasks based on their durations.

- Tap the "+" button in the Today view or Inbox
- Enter a task name and estimated duration
- Optionally assign it to a project or set a priority
- Star it to add it to your Today timeline
How does the timer work?
Unlike Pomodoro apps with fixed intervals, Set's timer tracks actual work time. Tap a task to start the timer, and it will count up from zero. Toggle between elapsed time and remaining time as needed. The timer saves your progress even if you close the app.
What's the difference between Projects and Stages?
Projects are high-level containers (like "Write Novel" or "Launch Website"). Stages are phases within projects (like "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2"). This hierarchical structure helps break down complex work: Projects → Stages → Tasks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enable iCloud sync?
iCloud sync is a Pro feature. After subscribing to Set Pro, ensure you're signed into iCloud on all your devices. Sync happens automatically - your tasks will appear across iPhone, iPad, and Mac within seconds.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free: Up to 3 projects, 8 tasks in Today view, all core features
Pro: Unlimited projects and tasks, iCloud sync, all future Pro features
How do widgets work?
Add Set widgets to your Home Screen (iOS) to see your starred tasks at a glance. Long-press your Home Screen, tap "+", search for "Set", and choose a widget size. Widgets update automatically when you modify your Today list.
What are Live Activities?
When you start a timer on iOS 17+, Set displays a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island (iPhone 14 Pro and later). This shows your current task and timer progress without opening the app.
Can I customize sounds and themes?
Yes! Go to Settings to choose from:
- Themes: Light, Dark, Black (OLED), or System
- 10 preset accent colors
- Multiple sound packs with individual volume controls
- Font styles: Default or Rounded
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings:
- iOS/iPadOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions
- macOS: App Store → Account → Subscriptions
Select "Set" and tap "Cancel Subscription". You'll keep Pro features until the end of your billing period.
Troubleshooting
My tasks aren't syncing between devices
Note: iCloud sync requires a Set Pro subscription.
If you have Pro and sync isn't working:
- Check you're signed into the same iCloud account on all devices
- Verify iCloud Drive is enabled: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive
- Ensure Set has iCloud permissions: Settings → Set → iCloud
- Try closing and reopening the app on all devices
- If that doesn't work, try toggling iCloud sync off and on in Set's settings
- Wait 30 seconds for sync to complete
Notifications aren't working
- Open iOS Settings → Notifications → Set
- Ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled
- Check notification settings within Set's settings page
- Verify your device isn't in Do Not Disturb mode
- Make sure scheduled task notifications are enabled in Set Settings
The timer stopped counting
If you enabled "Keep Screen Awake" in Settings, the timer should run continuously. If the timer paused:
- Check if Low Power Mode is enabled (it may affect background timers)
- Ensure Set has permission to run in the background
- If using Live Activities, check they're enabled in Settings
- Try restarting the timer and keeping Set in the foreground
I can't create more projects or tasks
The free tier allows up to 3 projects and 8 tasks in Today view. To create more, upgrade to Set Pro for unlimited projects and tasks.
View Pro pricing →Widgets aren't updating
- Widgets update when the app goes to background. Try opening and closing Set.
- Remove and re-add the widget from your Home Screen
- Restart your device if widgets still don't update
- Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled for Set in iOS Settings
The app crashed or froze
If Set becomes unresponsive:
- Force quit the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Check for app updates in the App Store
- If the problem persists, please report the bug with details about what you were doing when it crashed
Privacy & Data
Where is my data stored?
All your tasks and data are stored locally on your device and (if enabled) in your personal iCloud account. We never have access to your task content. Your data is end-to-end encrypted by Apple.

- Anonymous subscription status (via RevenueCat)
- Device type and OS version (for subscription management only)
- We do NOT collect: Your task content, personal information, or usage patterns
How do I export my data?
Currently, data export features are in development. Your data is accessible in Set on all your devices with iCloud sync. If you need to export your data, please contact us and we'll help you find a solution.
